Introducing YALI Accountability & Transparency Summit 2018

The 2030 global Agenda for Sustainable Development has as one of its key universally agreed goals, Peace, Justice and strong institutions; SDGs Goal 16. The goal provides guidance for achieving an inclusive and participatory governance system for all Member Nations; Including Nigeria. Developing effective accountable and transparent institutions at all levels; a major indicator of the SDGs Goal 16, therefore, becomes the stand point for which the YALI Accountability and Transparency Summit will flourish as a solution driven advocacy project promoting inclusive governance, ethics and accountability. The YALI Accountability Summit is also in recognition of the Chapter 3 of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG) which encourage citizens to be actively involved in democratic processes.

The Accountability and Transparency Summit (ATS Abuja, 2018), is designed to catalyze the abilities of Young African Leaders participating from across 25 States of Nigeria (where YALI hubs are instituted) to take up initiatives that will reinforce the role of government in creatively providing the needs of people and ensuring accountability at all levels. Through the well-designed project deliverables centered on education, health, trade and investment and security as thematic areas, YALI Nigeria will sustain her relevance within the governance space across regions of the country and network members will replicate their leanings on community impact driven activities and government level support initiatives
